Island Getaway

The small and efficient Island Retreat home sits on waterfront acreage on the west side of San Juan Island looking out across the Haro Straight.

GCID worked before and during construction alongside Prentiss Architects to create an interior that would accommodate a family in a relaxed and open environment.

The design was influenced by the natural beauty of the San Juans. The moss covered rocks, dappled light reflecting off the water, and bark of the madrona trees influenced the palette for paint, furniture and finishes.

Artwork, rugs and accessories with vibrant color are a playful contrast to the natural materials throughout the home.
